What abnormalities can veneers correct?

Veneers are used to correct minor abnormalities of both a structural nature and those caused by injuries. They are small pieces of extremely thin porcelain formed in the shape of a tooth. The veneer is applied to the tooth using a strong bonding agent.

Dr. Levi uses veneers to correct the following issues:

  • Gaps or spaces between the teeth
  • Abnormally shaped teeth
  • Teeth that are smaller than normal
  • Severely stained or discolored teeth
  • Teeth that are chipped or broken

She can cover these abnormalities and many others using veneers and other cosmetic procedures.

How are veneers applied to the teeth?

The process of attaching veneers to the patient's teeth begins with Dr. Levi thoroughly cleaning the teeth. She then buffs or sands away the enamel of the tooth leaving a rough surface that is easier for the bonding agent to adhere to. Once the bonding agent is applied to the tooth, Dr. Levi puts the veneer in place, allowing it to adhere securely to the surface of the tooth.

Dr. Levi uses veneers to help patients recover their smile. Some patients have teeth that are abnormally small or that have an odd shape. Dr. Levi uses veneers to correct these abnormalities and eliminate discolorations so the patient has a smile that is white and bright. Restoring their smile gives them the courage to show their smile to others and be proud of their appearance.

What happens if a veneer is chipped or broken?

Veneers are made from a very thin piece of porcelain. Under the right circumstances, they can be damaged. Veneers that are chipped or broken have to be replaced by a dentist who understands how they work. Each veneer is unique to the tooth that it is attached to.

Dr. Levi understands the concept behind the use of veneers and how important they are to a patient's self-esteem. When a veneer is chipped or broken, it must immediately be replaced to protect the delicate tissue of the tooth left exposed when it was first attached. If the entire tooth is damaged, Dr. Levi may resort to the use of a dental implant, crown, or cap.
